Most of you know that we juggled a variety of home improvements shortly after Ryann's birth on account of a busted hot water heater and a leak in the kitchen wall. So thanks in part to State Farm (the best insurance coverage on the planet), we now have all new flooring, including some wood in rooms that were originally carpeted. This is a great upgrade on our house, and we knew it would eventually mean spending some money on area rugs. However, we did not adequately anticipate our dog becoming three times as neurotic as she was before. As you know, wood floors are VERY SCARY. And because they are so terrifying, Pearl would scamper/dart/slide down the hall pausing only at Ryann's bedroom door to noisily shake... which would, of course, startle the peacefully napping kiddo. If the shaking didn't wake her, then us whisper yelling, "PEARL!!!" certainly had that effect.
Needless to say, Pearl's neuroses are hurrying along our rug purchase plan. As Vanna White is crawdeling (crawl-modeling) in this photo, our new 14-foot runner boasts a variety of lovely colors and is made of a soft wool/cotton blend that is easy on the knees if you prefer crawling to walking. If you need a long runner, Overstock.com has fair quality ones at the right price. Most that you find in catalogs are only eight feet and more expensive. All-in-all, the bargain hunter in me is pleased with this find for a high traffic area like the hall.
